HDTV

Now a day we are listening about High Definition TV at everywhere, but you people knows this technology? Let me give you the description of HDTV. It is the new technology television which gives you high resolution rate as compare to current NTSC and PAL video standards. HDTV is digital, but not all digital is HD TV. There are three formats of digital cable, standard, enhanced, and high definition. Standard has 480i, enhanced is 480p and high definition is 720p and 1080i resolution. High definition signal is transmitted in a 16:9 aspect ratio. It is also known as widescreen like screen in the movie theaters. You can buy HDTV with either standard (4:3) or wide screen aspect ratio. HDTV gives crystal clear surround sound, especially when HDTV set is connected to a Home Theater Audio System. Types of HDTV displays include direct view, plasma, rear screen, and front screen projection. HDTV requires an HDTV tuner to view and the most detailed HDTV format is 1080i.
 
The minimum performance attributes for HDTV:

  • Display Scanning Format have active vertical scanning lines of 720 progressive (720p), 1080 interlaced (1080i), or higher
  • It is capable of displaying a 16:9 image aspect Ratio. 
  • Receiver receives ATSC terrestrial digital transmissions and decodes all ATSC cable 3 video formats.
  • Audio receives and reproduces, and/or outputs Dolby Digital audio
